A producer-driven gathering featuring local growers, fresh produce, meat, dairy, flowers, specialty foods, and on-site prepared meals, with live music and community activities.
City Park Farmers Market is back at the City Park Esplanade this Saturday, October 17, from 8 AM to 1 PM. It's one of the last few weekends of the season, which runs every Saturday from May 2 through October 31, so if you've been putting off your visit, now's the time.
The market is producer-driven, meaning it's built around the growers and the people behind the food. It draws on the region's farm tradition with more than a hundred Colorado-based farmers, ranchers and food producers. The stalls run with fresh produce, meat, dairy, flowers, specialty foods and on-site prepared meals, and the market accepts SNAP and Double Up Food Bucks. The setting does a good bit of the work: shady trees over overflowing stands of just-picked fruit, fresh flowers and warm pastries, with the smell of sizzling brunch bites in the air.
Beyond the shopping, there's a fair amount to do. Chef demos by local culinary figures offer fresh takes on the morning's ingredients, and live local music and plenty of grass to picnic on encourage you to linger. Run club and yoga sessions round out the community activations, and volunteer opportunities are available for anyone wanting to get involved. It's as much a morning out as it is a place to stock up for the week.
