A seated, multisensory arts experience using light, projection and music to transform the historic Saint John's Cathedral into a living canvas.
Celestia is coming to Saint John's Cathedral for a run of dates starting Saturday, October 10. It's a seated, multisensory arts experience produced by Paquin Entertainment Group and Normal Studio, and it's part of a North American tour that takes the show into historic sacred spaces. The whole thing runs about 45 minutes and welcomes all ages, so it works as a date or something to bring the kids to.
The show is built around ten immersive scenes spread across five acts: Awakening, Becoming, Transformation, Belonging and Radiance. They use projection technology to turn the cathedral into a living canvas, with an original orchestral score that plays off the architecture. On Friday and Saturday nights, a live choir joins in, and there's a companion web app that gives you the cathedral's history alongside shareable moments.
Saint John's Cathedral is a Gothic Revival masterpiece completed in 1911, having risen from the ashes of a 1903 fire. It's known for its Indiana limestone walls, Oberammergau carvings and stained glass by the Frampton and Connick studios. The projections are designed to work with that specific space, so the building itself is part of the experience.
