Concert by the English rock band Basement, performing their album 'Beside Myself' at the Ogden Theatre.
Basement play the Ogden Theatre on Sunday, November 1, at 7 PM. They're touring their fourth full-length, Beside Myself, and the bill brings together a few opening acts from different corners of the US: High Vis from London, Big Boy from Carolina, Puerto Rico, and Lowertown from Atlanta.
Basement is a five-piece from Ipswich, England, co-founded by Andrew Fisher in 2010. Beside Myself follows 2016's Promise Everything, which was re-released the next year as the band's debut for Fueled by Ramen. That record was co-produced by the band and Colin Brittain and mixed by Rich Costey, who has worked with Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters, and Muse. Fisher, who now lives in Richmond, Virginia, took a break between 2012's Colourmeinkindness and 2014's Further Sky to teach religious studies in East London.
Fisher describes Beside Myself as centering on the drawbacks of living in one's own head. He says the title comes from the idea of stopping yourself from dwelling on the past or the future and appreciating the present moment instead. It's their fourth full-length, and it follows a decade and a half of records that stretch from the early days in Ipswich to the more recent work they've put out since moving to a larger label.
