USA debut of Yue Yin Dance Company, presenting its FOCO Technique rooted in Chinese classical and folk traditions as part of the TITAS/Dance Unbound season.
Yue Yin Dance Company makes its Texas debut at Moody Performance Hall on Friday, April 2, and Saturday, April 3, with both shows starting at 7:30 PM. It's part of the TITAS/Dance Unbound season, which is now in its fifth decade and brings ten performances by nine companies from four countries to Dallas this year—four of them debuts.
The company was founded in 2018 by the artist Yue Yin, who developed her own movement vocabulary called FOCO Technique™. She describes it as a contemporary dance language rooted in Chinese classical and folk traditions, shaped by the layered influences of the immigrant experience. Critics have pointed to the sheer density of her movement, the shifting dynamics she weaves into each phrase, and the magnetic quality of her dancers.
