Live screening of the 1971 film Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory with an introduction and Q&A session with original cast members Julie Dawn Cole and Paris Themmen.
The Texas Theatre is screening Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory on Tuesday, October 27, with two original cast members coming along for the ride. Julie Dawn Cole, who played Veruca Salt, and Paris Themmen, who played Mike Teavee, will be there in person to introduce the film and stick around for a Q&A afterward. The screening is part of the theatre's film festival programme, so it's one of several titles they're running through the season.
The movie on the screen is the 1971 version, directed by Mel Stuart and written by Roald Dahl, Robert Kaufman, and David Seltzer. It runs 100 minutes, and you'll recognize Gene Wilder as Wonka, with Jack Albertson and Peter Ostrum in the supporting cast. If you've seen it a dozen times, seeing it in a theater with the people who were actually in it changes the experience—you get to hear firsthand what it was like on set from the kids who played the spoiled brats.
That Q&A is where the night really lands. Cole and Themmen will talk about their time in the production, and you'll have a chance to ask them your own questions. It's a rare thing to get two original cast members in the same room, let alone in a Dallas theater, so if you've ever wondered about the behind-the-scenes side of the movie, this is your shot. And if you're the type who wants a photo to prove you were there, the venue is offering free selfies in the lobby after the show.

Doors open at 6 PM, and the screening starts at 7 PM, so you've got plenty of time to get settled before the lights go down. The Texas Theatre is at 231 W Jefferson Blvd in Oak Cliff, 75208.
