Dallas Black Dance Theatre presents UNCHARTED, its first program of world premiere dance works, marking the company's 50th anniversary.
Dallas Black Dance Theatre brings UNCHARTED to the Dee & Charles Wyly Theatre on Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15, 2027, both nights at 7:30 PM. It's part of their Spring Celebration Series, and it's a bit of a milestone for the company: UNCHARTED is their first program devoted exclusively to world premiere dance works. Every piece on the bill is new.
That's a shift from their usual format, where new choreography often shares the stage with older, established repertoire. Here, the focus is entirely on what's coming next. The company is billing it as the opening chapter of their next fifty years of relentless excellence, and the timing makes sense. The work arrives as they mark their 50th anniversaryโhalf a century since founder Ann Williams' dream took root in Dallas and was built step by step, movement by movement, generation by generation.

If you've followed them for a while, you know that history is a big part of how they talk about their work. This program is less a look back and more a look forward, with the anniversary serving as the jumping-off point. The two performances are on Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15, both at 7:30 PM at the Dee & Charles Wyly Theatre, 2400 Flora Street, Dallas, TX 75201. Tickets start at $60.
