A two-part night for The Cure fans with a seated Sound Advice session and an all-vinyl dance party.
The Cure takes over Shyboy Hi Fi on Wednesday, October 28, for a night built around two distinct parts. The first is a seated Sound Advice session in The Blue Room, led by Dallas radio DJ and Cure superfan Jeff K. After that, the evening opens up into an all-vinyl dance party. It's a two-act night: one for sitting and listening, one for getting up.
Shyboy Hi Fi is a modern hi-fi bar and listening room in Dallas that keeps the tradition of pure auditory experiences alive in a free, playful way, with a program that ranges from Japanese Jazz to Detroit House. The room itself is informed by curving brutalist design and adaptive reuse, and it hangs art by progressive contemporary artists. The main space holds Duccio Maria Gambi's Untitled (2025), flanked by two nine-foot Devon Turnbull OJAS x NNNN speakers. The Blue Room, where the seated session happens, is a painstakingly restored 1920s bank vault that houses Lachlan Turczan's Optical Resonance (2023), a cymatic sculpture that reacts organically to the room's sound.
