Showcase of independent short films from emerging Texas filmmakers, with a talkback after the screenings.
The Big Texas Little Film Tour makes its Dallas stop at The Texas Theatre on Monday, October 12. It's a traveling showcase of work by emerging Texas filmmakers, put together as a collection of independent short films. The organizers describe the program as a way to repress the vastness of Texas, pulling together a variety of voices from across the state into a single night.
That's the first half of the evening. Once the screenings wrap, the filmmakers stay on for a talkback, so you get to hear from the people behind the work rather than just watching it and heading home. If you've ever wondered how a short comes together or what drove a particular scene, that's your chance to ask.
The Dallas stop is presented by The Texas Theatre, the Oak Cliff cinema that's been voted Best Movie Theater by the Dallas Observer and D Magazine. It's a legendary spot in the neighborhood, and it's where the tour lands for this particular date.
