A deep listening session and discussion celebrating the LP 'Dioses Tribales', a collaboration between Trucha Soul and Sabotaje Media, curated by Rosa Pistola.
Shyboy Hi Fi is hosting another session of Sound Advice on Sunday, October 11, and this one centers on Dioses Tribales, a new LP that brings together two labels from opposite sides of the border: Texas-based Trucha Soul and Mexico's Sabotaje Media. The whole thing is curated by Rosa Pistola.
If you haven't caught a Sound Advice night before, the format is pretty straightforward: it's a deep listening session, so the main event is the record itself playing through the room's sound system. This time, the playback is paired with a discussion of Tribal Mexicano's roots and where it's headed, so you get the music and the context in one go. It's more of a sit-down, listen-in kind of evening than a dance floor one.
Dioses Tribales is the collaboration between Trucha Soul and Sabotaje Media, and Rosa Pistola is the one curating the session. The discussion part focuses on Tribal Mexicano, so if you've been following that sound or just want to get a better handle on where it comes from, this is a good place to start. Between the full listen and the talk, you'll walk away with a much clearer picture of the record and the scene it belongs to.
