A gala evening with survivor stories, panel discussion, live entertainment, and auctions benefiting Simon's Recovery Outreach.
Simon's Recovery Outreach is hosting its Domestic Violence Awareness Fall Gala tomorrow, Saturday, Oct 10, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Dallas - Love Field. It's a fundraiser for the nonprofit, and the evening is built around survivor stories and a panel discussion, so you'll hear from the people the organization actually serves.
There's a fair amount of entertainment packed in: a live band, dancing, a special dance performance, and both live and silent auctions. They're also running a wine pull and a table-paddle fundraiser, so it's a long night with plenty to do. The gala is billed as an evening celebrating hope, healing, and the resilience of domestic violence survivors.
To understand why the organization exists, it helps to know who started it. Cynthia Simon founded Simon's Recovery Outreach after escaping domestic violence herself at age 24, when she was a mother of two and her family was forced into homelessness. That experience is what shaped the nonprofit's focus: getting survivors into stable housing quickly, rather than leaving them to navigate the system on their own.

That focus on housing is where the fundraising is headed. The organization is working to acquire five to ten acres in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to build a miniature house community, modeled after Seattle's Progressive Skyway Tiny House Village, which would provide short-term transitional housing for survivors. Individual tickets run from $110 to $125, and sponsorship tables are $1,100. The venue is the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Dallas - Love Field, 3300 W Mockingbird Ln, Dallas, TX 75235.
