Dallas Black Dance Theatre presents its Encore showcase of emerging dance talent at Moody Performance Hall, part of the company's 50th anniversary season.
Dallas Black Dance Theatre brings Rising Excellence to Moody Performance Hall on Friday, April 16, and Saturday, April 17, 2027. Both shows start at 7:30 PM. It's the home series showcase for DBDT: Encore!, the company's training program, so the stage belongs to the next generation of dancers rather than the main company.
That's the whole point of the night: Rising Excellence is where the future of the company takes center stage. The dancers are described as showing fearless passion, technical mastery, and boundless energy, and since it's a showcase, you're seeing them in the spotlight rather than in the wings. It's a good way to get a look at the talent coming up through the ranks before they move into the main company.
The showcase is part of Fifty Years in Motion, the season marking DBDT's 50th anniversary. The company started half a century ago with founder Ann Williams' dream, and this home series is one of the ways they're celebrating that history. The anniversary season includes a gala on Saturday, February 13, 2027, and UNCHARTED, the company's first program devoted entirely to world premieresβa look at the next fifty years they're building toward.

Rising Excellence fits right into that mix, with the younger dancers taking the lead. Tickets are $45, and the shows run Friday, April 16, and Saturday, April 17, both at 7:30 PM at Moody Performance Hall, 2520 Flora Street in Dallas.
