A musical based on Mo Willems' book, presented as a rock show with energetic songs and quirky characters, recommended for ages 4 and up.
Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Rock Experience opens at the Dallas Children's Theater on Saturday, October 10. It's a musical based on Mo Willems' children's book Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed, and it's billed as a special lesson and a rock show all in one.
The story follows Wilbur and his fellow naked mole rats in the Tunnel, who have always lived naked. When Wilbur discovers a love for clothing and style, word of his new passion turns the Tunnel upside down and chaos ensues, proving to everyone that there's no need to be just like everyone else. It's a simple enough premise, but it's played out as a rock show, with energetic songs and quirky characters. The production runs with the tagline "No shirt, no shoes... service."
Mo Willems wrote the book and the lyrics, and Deborah Wicks La Puma provided the music. The show is recommended for ages 4 and up, so it's geared toward families with younger kids.
