Level 1 Long Form Improv Grad Show

The Level 1 Long Form Improv Grad Show hits the Dallas Comedy Club on Sunday, November 1, at 3 PM. It's a graduation performance, which means the people on stage are the students who just finished their first level of long form improv training at the club. This is their debut—the first time they're performing in front of an audience after working through the class.

If you're not familiar with the format, long form is a bit different from the quick-fire sketches you might expect. Instead of a series of short, disconnected scenes, the performers take a single suggestion from the crowd and build an entire show around it. They'll spin out characters and storylines on the fly, letting one scene lead into the next without a script to fall back on. Over the course of the level, these improvisers have been working on spontaneous storytelling and character work, and this show is where they put it all together.

The performance takes place in the Club Theater, which is an intimate room that works well for improv. Because the space is small, there's a direct connection between the performers and the crowd, and since the whole thing is built on audience suggestions, you're part of the show from the start. It's a good way to see a new group of improvisers get their first real stage time.

It's a Sunday afternoon show, so it's an easy one to fit into a weekend. The Level 1 Long Form Improv Grad Show is at the Dallas Comedy Club on Sunday, November 1, starting at 3 PM.
