A one-woman play by Irma Vitovska exploring the reality of war in Ukraine, blending humour, heartbreak, hope and resilience.
Kyivska Perepichka comes to the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts on Friday, October 16, at 7:30 PM. It's a one-woman play performed by Irma Vitovska, one of Ukraine's most celebrated actresses, and this is the production's Dallas debut. The show runs 90 minutes without an intermission, so you'll be in your seat from start to finish.
Vitovska is a big name in Ukrainian performance, known for My Thoughts Are Silent, The Gateway, and a long list of award-winning theatre productions. On stage, she carries the whole thing herself. The play tells the story of Ukrainians living through the reality of the full-scale war, and it doesn't stick to one noteβit blends humor, heartbreak, hope, and resilience. It's the kind of story that lets the heavy stuff sit alongside the lighter moments, rather than choosing one or the other.
Because it's a one-woman show, the focus stays on Vitovska and the stories she's telling. The 90-minute runtime means you're with her for the whole stretch, and the lack of an intermission keeps the momentum going. It's recommended for ages 16 and over.
