A new generation of dancers embody the works that established Dallas Black Dance Theatre, celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Dallas Black Dance Theatre brings INHERITANCE to the Dee & Charles Wyly Theatre on Friday, February 12, 2027, at 7:30 PM and Sunday, February 14, at 3:00 PM. The production is part of the company's 50th anniversary celebrations, marking five decades since founder Ann Williams first started the company.
On stage, a new generation of dancers takes on the works that established the company. The program pulls from a selection of contemporary favorites, putting pieces that built the company's reputation back into the contemporary landscape. It's a look at what's been passed down and what's still to come, with the newer dancers embodying the choreography that put the company on the map.
That mission runs through everything they do. The company describes its goal as creating and producing contemporary modern dance at the highest level of artistic excellence, through performances and educational programs that bridge cultures and reach diverse communities. INHERITANCE fits right into thatβit's a celebration of the company's history and the dancers who carry it forward.
