A totally unscripted, free comedy show driven by audience suggestions, showcasing the club's improv teams and followed by an open-access improv jam.
Improv Happy Hour is back at the Dallas Comedy Club this Wednesday, October 7. It's a totally unscripted, free comedy show that runs on audience suggestions, so the scenes change every single time. The club bills every show as both a world premiere and a closing night, which is a fair way of saying nothing is rehearsed and it'll never happen exactly this way again.
The night serves as a showcase for the club's Improv Club Teams. These teams are made up of Training Center alumni moving from hobbyist to professional: students who've completed at least three improv classes at DCC can audition for a team, rehearse with a professional coach, and stage a high-energy 25-minute act over a five-month season. That's what you're seeing on stageβteams working through their material in front of a live crowd.
Once the showcase wraps, the night keeps going with the Improv Jam, a casual, open-access session where improvisers of all levels jump in to play unscripted scenes and games together. It's a more laid-back, communal way to end the evening, and it runs for another two to three hours.
