Stand-up comedy tour by real first responders sharing funny stories from the job, featuring firefighters, police officers, nurses and military veterans.
Heroes Off Duty brings its comedy tour to The Texas Theatre on Thursday, November 19, with a lineup of first responders doing stand-up about their time on the job. The bill for the Dallas stop features Vinnie Montez (Police), Maurice Shaw (Pharmacist), Jimmy Nelson (Firefighter), and Billy D. Washington (Police).
The whole thing is built around first responders — firefighters, police officers, nurses, and military veterans — taking the stage to talk through the extreme situations they deal with every day. It's the kind of material that usually stays in the breakroom or gets told over a drink after a shift, now put in front of a crowd. The four comics on this bill come from different sides of that world, so you'll get a few different perspectives on what a day at work looks like for them.
Behind the tour is ResiliENT, the same group that put together Bored Teachers Comedy, which they describe as the world's number one teacher-comedy tour, with more than 250 sold-out shows across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand. They've built a following of over 600,000 social media followers and more than 50 million video views, and they describe Heroes Off Duty as the fastest-growing first responder comedy brand on the internet. The Dallas show is part of that larger circuit.
