Free improv comedy show featuring the troupes Stephen & Mark and Who's Married? at the Dallas Comedy Club.
Stephen & Mark and Who's Married? are taking the stage at Dallas Comedy Club on Thursday, October 15. It's a double bill of improv, and the two acts couldn't be more different in how they work.
Stephen & Mark is a two-person monoscene with a heavy crowdwork element, meaning the audience becomes part of the room rather than just watching from the seats. If you're the kind of person who likes to be in on the joke, this is the half of the night for you.
Who's Married? has a more specific, and frankly strange, origin story. The troupe—Kent Wicklander, Amy O'Neil, Jeff Garlish, Kate Alleman, and Raye Maddox—formed after a stranger named Robbie approached them at a bar and asked each woman if she was single. Each pointed to a man in the group and called him her husband. When Robbie returned with a second unasked-for tray of shots, he spent some time ranting about Texans and his crypto before being kicked out. The group describes the "curse of Robbie" as having plagued the five of them ever since, leading to multiple break-ups in their personal relationships, and the troupe formed out of that. It's a group born from a very specific, very awkward night out.
