Annual photography and storytelling exhibit and brunch benefit honoring dementia family caregivers.
Faces of Care Warriors returns to The Wax Space on Sunday, November 1, for its 4th annual brunch benefit. It's the debut of the newest photography and storytelling project from Dementia Care Warriors, an organization that spends the rest of the year working with family caregivers across North Texas.
If you haven't come across the project before, here's the gist: each year, they gather portraits of dementia family caregivers, paired with their stories. The portraits are meant to capture the love, the personality, the history, and the connection inside each caregiving relationship, and the brunch serves as the exhibit's opening. It's a way of bringing these caregivers and their experiences into full view, honoring the people whose stories the project brings to light.
Beyond the exhibit, the brunch is a fundraiser. The money raised goes toward the organization's year-round work across North Texas: education, respite scholarships, resources, and community support for family caregivers. So, while the afternoon centers on the photos and the stories, the funds keep those programs running for the caregivers who need them.
