Bishop Street Ballet presents an all-new ballet inspired by Bride of Frankenstein, with live ballet followed by the 1935 film.
Bishop Street Ballet returns to The Texas Theatre on Sunday, October 25, with a new ballet inspired by Bride of Frankenstein. It's a double bill: the live ballet comes first, and then the 1935 film plays right after. The movie runs 75 minutes, so you'll be in your seat for the dance and the film in one go.
Bride of Frankenstein is the one that takes the original monster and gives him a counterpart, and it's a movie of mad science, doomed romance and questionable medical ethics. It was directed by James Whale and written by Mary Shelley, William Hurlbut and John L. Balderston, with Boris Karloff, Elsa Lanchester and Colin Clive in the lead roles. The ballet is built around that, so you get the live performance and the film back-to-back.

It's a Sunday afternoon show, which works well for a double feature. Doors open at 4 PM and the program starts at 5 PM, so you've got plenty of time to settle in before the ballet kicks off. If you've seen the film before, it's a good way to revisit it with a live performance as a lead-in; if you haven't, you get the two together in one evening. The Texas Theatre is in Dallas, and the whole thing runs on Sunday, October 25, starting at 5 PM.
