Concert by Bayonne, the electronic and ambient project of Austin-based musician Roger Sellers, at the historic Club Dada venue.
Bayonne plays Club Dada on Friday, October 23, at 8 PM. Bayonne is the stage name of Roger Sellers, an Austin-based composer and electronic artist who builds intricate, layered music that blends ambient textures with propulsive rhythms. He's known for live looping and percussively brilliant performances, so you'll see him constructing the sound in real time rather than just triggering tracks.
Sellers debuted the project on the 2016 reissue of his fourth album, Primitives, and was named a Band to Watch by Austin Monthly that same year. The album's track "Appeals" landed in the video game FIFA 17. His discography also includes Filters, which blends silken synths, field recordings, piano, and percussion.
In May 2023, he released his third and most personal album, Temporary Time, which he describes as translating depression and grief into hypnotic soundscapes. It's a record that sits closer to the emotional side of his work than the more rhythmic, dance-leaning material he's known for, and it should be a good point of reference for what he's bringing to the stage.
