Recital by the flute students of Katherine Borst Jones with solo and flute/piano works, free and open to the public.
Students of Katherine Borst Jones are taking the stage at Timashev Recital Hall on Monday, November 23, for a flute studio recital. It's a student showcase, which means the program is built around the work of the flutists studying under Borst Jones rather than a single headliner. If you've never been to one of these, the format is pretty straightforward: a group of students each bring a piece or two to the stage, and together they build out a full concert.
The program mixes solo flute performances with flute and piano duets. The solo spots put the flute front and center, while the duets bring in the piano for a fuller sound. Between the two, you'll hear a range of styles and a variety of players, so the evening moves from one performer to the next rather than sticking with a single voice. It's a good way to hear several different flutists in one sitting.
