Live music performance by The Swingin' Richards at the Uptown Live series in Truist Center Plaza.
The Swingin' Richards take the stage at Truist Center Plaza this Thursday, October 8, as part of Uptown Live. It's one of the remaining dates in a run that's been going since late May, and it's free to attend, so you can just drop in without a ticket.
Uptown Live is the Thursday-night hub of the Fifth Street District, bringing live music, DJs, food, and drinks to the plaza. It used to go by the name Fifth Street Live, and it's still the same setup: music starts in the late afternoon, and as evening turns to night, the energy picks up. That makes it a good pre-show or pre-dinner stop if you've got other plans in the city. When the plaza session wraps, the official after-party continues in the surrounding district, which is the largest concentration of locally owned bars and restaurants in Charlotte.
The Swingin' Richards are part of a lineup that's been rotating through the plaza all summer. They follow The Parks Brothers (September 10), Charlotte is Creative and FOMO (September 17), KARMA! (September 24), and Mo' Money, who played both June 4 and October 1. After the Richards, The Voltage Brothers take over on October 15, and Hot Sauce closes out the season on October 22.

It's a long run—Thursdays from 5 to 9 PM, from May 28 through October 22—so if you've missed a few, there's still time to catch a couple before the season ends. The music is free, though food and drinks are available for purchase. You'll find it at Truist Center Plaza, 214 N. Tryon St. in Uptown.
