A family-friendly Halloween event with food, games, candy and a favorite trunk contest at Light of Christ UMC.
Light of Christ UMC is hosting its Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 30, from 7 to 9 PM. If you've never done one, the setup is pretty straightforward: people back their cars into the parking lot, decorate their trunks, and hand out candy from the open hatch. It's a way to get the trick-or-treating done in one spot rather than walking the neighborhood.
There's more to it than just the candy, though. Along with the trunks, they'll have food and games on site, so it works as a full evening out rather than just a quick stop for sweets. One of the highlights is the favorite trunk contest, where the best-decorated cars get recognized for their effort. If you're planning to bring your own car and join in, that's where the decorating pays off.

It's a free event, and since it runs from 7 to 9 PM on a Friday night, it fits right into the window before Halloween rolls around on Saturday. You'll find it at Light of Christ UMC (Light of Christ Methodist Church), 9106 Bryant Farms Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. With the food, games, and the contest all happening in one place, it's a low-stress way to get the kids through their candy haul in a single go.
