Time Sawyer live performance at Petra's, part of the Sam on Someday live music series.
Time Sawyer are playing Petra's on Sunday, October 25, as part of the Sam on Someday series. The trio consists of Sam Tayloe, Court Wynter and Jordan Nelson, with Tayloe on guitar, lead vocals and harmonica. They're a Charlotte folk-rock band, and the name is a play on the pull between the past and the future, with Tom Sawyer as the starting point.
Their sound blends rootsy folk, alt-country and rock. They've played some of the Southeast's biggest festivals—Merlefest, Floydfest, Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion, Albino Skunk Music Festival and Carolina in the Fall—and shared bills with American Aquarium, John Craigie, Hiss Golden Messenger, Langhorne Slim, John Moreland, Steep Canyon Rangers and The Wood Brothers.
During the pandemic, Tayloe started a weekly Sunday livestream called Sam on Sunday, which grew into Sam on Someday, a series of live, one-time-only collaborative performances that bring together guest artists from widely different genres. At Petra's, it's become a celebration of the local scene: a rapper, a banjo player, a folk singer, a violinist and a blues guitarist might all share the stage on the same night.
