A three-course jazz-era themed dinner at The Asbury to watch The Great Gatsby at the Belk Theater.
The Asbury is hosting The Great Gatsby Pre-Show Dinner on Tuesday, October 13, from 5 PM to 6:15 PM. It's a three-course dinner themed around the Jazz Age, put together as a lead-in to a performance of The Great Gatsby at the Belk Theater. If you're planning to see the show that night, this is the spot to eat beforehand.
The dinner is held at The Asbury, the restaurant by the lobby of Charlotte's only historic hotel. The venue takes its name from Louis Asbury Sr., the Charlotte architect who in 1929 designed what is now The Dunhill Hotel. It's a modern Southern kitchen that holds onto the city's past while working with the seasons.
Since the menu is built around the Jazz Age, it's a nod to the era The Great Gatsby inhabits. The three courses are designed to get you in the mood for the show, and the timing—ending at 6:15 PM—leaves you plenty of room to get over to the Belk Theater without rushing. The restaurant is at 237 N Tryon St, right in the heart of Uptown, so it's an easy walk or short ride to the theater from there.
