A jazz concert celebrating the songbook of Nat King Cole, performed by Joe Gransden, Noel Freidline and Maria Howell.
Joe Gransden, Noel Freidline, and Maria Howell are playing Middle C Jazz on Sunday, October 25, for a tribute to the songbook of Nat King Cole. The set draws from the classics Cole left behind—songs like "Unforgettable," "Mona Lisa," "L-O-V-E," "Route 66," and "Straighten Up and Fly Right," the kind of recordings that helped shape American music.
Gransden is a trumpeter, vocalist, and bandleader whose career spans the old big band era and modern jazz. He's released more than 17 albums and has been compared to Chet Baker and Frank Sinatra, and Kenny G produced his album Close To My Heart. Noel Freidline is a pianist, vocalist, and educator who has played festivals like Montreux and took home the Charlotte Magazine Best Jazz Musician award in 2009. Maria Howell is a singer, actor, and voiceover artist with over 35 years of experience, with screen credits including Army Wives, Criminal Minds, and Beyond the Gates.
