A quiet reading hour where attendees bring their own book to read in companionable silence with fellow readers at Edge City Brewery.
Silent Book Club is back at Edge City Brewery on Saturday, October 17, from 11 AM to 12 PM. It's a recurring one: the club meets on the third Saturday of every month, and the current schedule runs through December 2026, so if you miss this one, there's another coming up soon.
The format is as simple as it sounds. You bring whatever book you're currently reading—fiction, non-fiction, a long-overdue classic—and spend the hour reading in companionable silence alongside other readers. There's no assigned text, no group discussion, and no pressure to have finished a certain number of pages. You just show up with your own book and read.
Edge City Brewery is a three-barrel brewery off Monroe Road with a taproom and an outdoor patio, and they keep a selection of beers, wine, cider, and guest taps on hand. It's a regular events venue in the city, and this is just one of the things they host—they also run 'Mindless Minutia Trivia' on Thursday nights, so the space is used to a steady rotation of crowds.

It's free to attend, and since it's a brewery, you can grab a drink to keep you company while you read. The next session is Saturday, October 17, from 11 AM to 12 PM at Edge City Brewery, 6209 Old Post Road, Charlotte, NC.
