Screening of the 2026 horror film 'Obsession' as part of the Scarolina series at the historic Carolina Theatre.
Scarolina is the name of a month-long series at the Carolina Theatre in Uptown Charlotte, a restored live-entertainment venue that stages music, film and events. Programming Director Ben Klein describes the nights as experiences you can't stream or recreate at home, and the lineup leans into the strange and macabre. It runs through October, with five separate nights of screenings and live shows.
It opens on Saturday, Oct 10, with a screening of Hereditary (2018) at 7 PM. Friday, Oct 16, is Obsession (2026) at 7 PM. Saturday, Oct 17, is The Rocky Horror Picture Show Spooktacular Tour at 8 PM—a 4K screening with a live shadow cast and a costume contest, and original cast member Barry Bostwick, the original Brad Majors, joining the audience. Friday, Oct 23, is Matt Fraser: Undeniable Life After Death Tour at 8 PM, a live psychic-reading experience with Fraser, billed as America's Top Psychic Medium. The series closes on Halloween night, Oct 31, with the sCarrie Prom at 6 PM and 9 PM—a prom-style mixer with Gather & Groove and DJ Teejay Suave that pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of the 1976 film Carrie, followed by a screening of the movie.
