Hard rock and punk rock trio RIPÉ perform live at The Music Yard in Charlotte.
RIPÉ play The Music Yard on Thursday, October 8, at 6 PM. They're a hard rock and punk rock trio that formed in 2009, emerging from the ashes of the punk band TWA. Their sound is built on distorted guitars and pounding drum rhythms, and their lyrics lean into the fictional, often caricaturing the finished rock star.
They built their following as 'rock de badass,' a regular on Musique Plus thanks to the hit 'Spin' and its twisted video, and a staple of rock radio and even Montreal Canadiens games. In 2016, the band set themselves the challenge of releasing four EPs in a single year, which yielded tracks like 'Ma tête est en papier,' 'C'est long monter en Gaspésie,' and 'Nouveau téléphone.'

They returned in 2023 with the EP Le rocket scientist d'Alma, five songs that echo AC/DC and Motörhead with a touch of Plume Latraverse. That's the material they're bringing to Charlotte: hard rock with a punk edge and a bit of a wink at the rock star persona. The show is at The Music Yard, 2433 South Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203, starting at 6 PM.
