Progressive rock guitarist Plini performs live from his 2026 album 'An Unnameable Desire' on his North American headline tour, with support from Night Verses and Portraits.
Plini plays The Underground on Thursday, October 15, as part of his An Unnameable Desire North American tour. He's not alone for this one: Night Verses and Portraits are both on the bill, so it's a full night of music rather than just a single set.
The tour is built around An Unnameable Desire, which came out in April 2026. It's Plini's first full-length since Impulse Voices in 2020, and that followed Handmade Cities back in 2016. If you've followed him for a while, you'll recognize the gap between records—he doesn't put them out every year, so this one has been a few years in the making. He's also put out a new video for the track "Vespertine" since the album dropped.
Plini is an Australian guitarist, composer, and producer. He was nominated for Live Guitarist of the Year at the 2018 National Live Music Awards and has toured with Sleep Token, Periphery, and Tesseract. An Unnameable Desire brought in a fair amount of help: Simon Grove handled bass, mixing, and co-production; Chris Allison was on drums; Dave McKay played piano; A.J. Minette did strings; Misha Vayman played violin; and Yoshi Masuda played cello. Patti Bai did the cover art. The Charlotte date is one stop on a North American headline run that goes from October 6 through November 8 across the US and Canada.
