Acoustic folk and easy-listening concert with PJ Brunson at the Harris Teeter Wine Bar in Ballantyne.
PJ Brunson plays the Harris Teeter Wine Bar in Ballantyne on Friday, October 9, from 4 PM to 7 PM. It's an acoustic folk and easy-listening set, the kind of afternoon music that works as well for sitting and listening as it does for having a drink and a conversation around you.
Brunson is a singer, songwriter, composer, guitarist, and pianist from Rock Hill, South Carolina, who's played across the Southeast opening for Lyle Lovett and Nanci Griffith. Around the Carolinas, she's often called the 'female James Taylor,' and Creative Loafing named her Charlotte's 'Best Acoustic Folk Act.' Her songs draw on poetry, art, literature, and Southern heritage, and she's been writing since she was five years oldβshe penned her first song after nearly drowning at Santee Lake. Her maternal grandmother bought her first 'real' guitar when she was 16.
She's recorded five albums as a solo artist and with the New Age duo Ananda, and released a six-song EP, The Other Side (Part 1), in August 2023. Her album Home To Me was nominated for Folk Album of the Year by the International Music and Entertainment Association. Beyond the stages and recordings, she also plays Sunday brunch at wine bars, restaurants, and care facilities.
