A cultural dance night featuring dance lessons, live music, and performances paying tribute to the LeBron Brothers and Afro-Latin culture.
Mint Museum Uptown is hosting Mint 2 Move Cultural Dance Night: Brooklyn to Charlotte on Friday, October 9, from 7:30 PM to 11 PM. It's part of the museum's wider Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba program, and this particular night is built around an homage to the LeBron Brothers and their New York salsa.
The evening is more of a full program than a single show. Rumbao Latin Dance Company will lead dance lessons, so you can get on your feet before the music takes over. The live sound comes from the Mint 2 Move Percussion Trio and DJ Carlos LeBron, with bassist Angel LeBron joining in for the tribute to the LeBron Brothers. Along with those, there will be performances by local cultural organizations and artists, and cultural vendors will be on hand throughout the night.
That New York connection is the whole point of this one: the museum describes it as bringing the energy of New York and the soul of Afro-Latin culture to Charlotte, centered on the LeBron Brothers and their salsa. The night mixes those lessons, the live music, the local performances, and the vendors into one experience, rather than just a concert or a dance class.
