A festive program of timeless carols and holiday favorites performed by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra's brass section and a guest organist.
Majestic Brass & Organ comes to First United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 29, at 7 PM. It's a holiday program featuring the brass section of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and a guest organist, built around timeless carols and holiday favorites. The brass and the organ are a natural fit for this kind of music—the brass brings the brightness and the organ provides the depth, and together they fill a church space in a way a full orchestra usually doesn't.
The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra is the oldest continuously operating symphony in the Carolinas, founded back in 1932, and it's one of the premier music organizations in the Southeast. It's led by Music Director Kwamé Ryan. This concert is part of the orchestra's Classical Series, which runs alongside its holiday and community events throughout the year.
Because it's a brass and organ program, the sound is focused and direct. You'll hear the brass section—the trumpets, horns, and trombones—playing the melodies, with the organ filling out the harmony and providing the bass. It's a festive, holiday-themed set, so you can expect the carols and favorites you've heard many times before, just played by a professional brass section and a guest organist rather than a choir or a full orchestra.
