Stand-up comedy show by Kristin Key, a queer musical comedian with viral videos and six comedy albums.
Kristin Key brings The Ca-Caw Tour to the Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts on Saturday, November 21, at 7 PM. She's a queer musical comedian who's built a huge online following around songs that double as stand-up, and this is her one night in Charlotte.
If you've come across her on social media, you probably recognize the voice. Her viral videos have gathered more than 100 million views and over a million followers, with LESBIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM being the one that really stuck. That's the core of what she does: writing comedy that works as music, and music that works as comedy, and letting the two run together. It's not just a few songs thrown into a stand-up set; the music is the vehicle for the jokes.
There's a lot of work behind the videos, too. She's put out six full-length comedy albums and a DryBar special, and has appeared on NBC's Bring the Funny and Last Comic Standing, as well as VH-1 and SiriusXM. Her first feature-length comedy special, LESBIAN ARMY, is available on Apple TV and Amazon if you want to get a sense of her timing before the show. She's also the North County LGBTQ Resource Center's Award of Merit Recipient and a Curve Power List Recipient, and she uses her tour dates to amplify local nonprofits.
