Chamber ensemble and choir concert bringing the history and stories of Korean music to life through songs from the 1950s to today.
The Sound of Korea brings a chamber ensemble and choir to UNC Charlotte's Rowe Recital Hall on Saturday, October 24, at 5 PM. The concert is titled Korean Music — A Music Journey Through Time: Chamber Ensemble & Choir, and it's built around songs spanning from the 1950s to today. Each piece is chosen to reflect the memories, emotions, and changes of its time, so the program works as a chronological look at Korean music over the last seven decades.
The performance is arranged for chamber music, vocal harmonies, and gentle narration. The narration ties the songs together, giving the history and stories behind the music as it moves from one era to the next. It's a format designed to connect the past and present for audiences of all generations, so it works whether you're coming for the music or the stories.
The evening is part of Korea in the Queen City, a cultural program by Hands On Well that shares Korean heritage through art, music, and food. This concert is one of the musical offerings within that larger series.
