Folk rock and rock and roll concert by Kind Hearted Strangers at Thirsty Beaver Saloon.
Kind Hearted Strangers play the Thirsty Beaver Saloon on Sunday, October 11, at 8 PM. It's a folk rock and rock and roll show, and the band is the only act on the bill.
The group was started by singer-songwriter Marc Townes, a Richmond, Virginia native. They trace their origins back to the foothills of Colorado before settling in Nashville, Tennessee, where they're based now. They describe their sound as timeless songwriting mixed with adventurous rock and roll, built on honest lyrics and fearless live performances.
Their third full-length album, Conflicts of Interest, continues a specific way of working: each record has been made with a different group of musicians in a different space, favoring collaboration and spontaneity over perfection. Conflicts of Interest was recorded live in the room without a click track, so the music captures the energy of musicians listening and responding to one another in real time. That's a good thing to keep in mind for a live show, since the record itself was built around the room it was made in.
