Kim Waters and Kayla Waters

Kim Waters plays Middle C Jazz on Saturday, December 12, with his daughter Kayla Waters on piano. He's touring Time 2 Groove, his 26th solo recording, which came out in April 2025. It's mostly original material, and he plays both alto and soprano saxophone across the tracks.

Waters is a Maryland-born, Georgia-based saxophonist who's built a long career in Urban Smooth Jazz and Contemporary Jazz, ranking among the top five best-selling instrumentalists in the genre. His sound blends jazz, R&B, blues and pop, and he's played alongside Al Green, Isaac Hayes, Patti LaBelle, Phyllis Hyman, Teddy Riley, Guy and Gerald Albright. He's been at it for more than three decades, and Time 2 Groove is his latest solo outing.

Sharing the stage is his daughter, Kayla Waters, an award-winning contemporary jazz pianist, composer and producer. She's a multi-time Billboard No. 1 recording artist and the first female pianist to hold the top spot for six consecutive weeks. A Howard University graduate and official Yamaha Artist, she's shared stages with Stevie Wonder, Regina Belle and Jonathan Butler. The two will perform together as Kim Waters and Kayla Waters.

The show starts at 6 PM, with doors opening at 5:15 PM. Tickets are $62.15 for Baby Grand members and $76.15 for general admission.
