A multi-sensory, immersive experience built around John Mark Comer's book 'Into the Quiet', featuring teaching, music and reflection with Jon Guerra.
Jon Guerra is coming to Mecklenburg Community Church on Wednesday, October 28, for Into the Quiet Experience, a night he's sharing with John Mark Comer. It's not a standard concert—the whole evening is built around Comer's book Into the Quiet: Following Jesus in a World of Noise, which argues that in a world where we're tethered to our devices, the remedy is simply to put the phone away and be alone with God. The format weaves together teaching, music, and quiet, reflective contemplation, so you'll spend as much time listening and thinking as you will watching a performance.
Each city on the tour pairs Comer with a different conversation partner, and for the Charlotte date, that partner is Jon Guerra. The two will alternate between talking and playing, with the music acting as a companion to the teaching rather than a separate act. It's a multi-sensory, immersive experience, and the quiet moments are as much a part of the program as the songs. The tour has featured other names like Tish Harrison Warren, Richard Foster, Dan Allendar, Lecrae, and John Ortberg, each bringing their own voice to the same starting point.
One detail that sets this apart from a typical ticket: every general admission ticket includes a signed copy of Into the Quiet. You'll leave with the book in hand, and all proceeds from the night support Practicing the Way, the ministry with which the series was created. The experience is designed to give you a chance to step away from the noise and sit with the ideas Comer writes about, rather than just hearing them spoken aloud.
