Monthly screening of short films with discussions led by local filmmakers and mental health professionals.
Inspiring Films returns to Urban District Market on Thursday, October 15, from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. It's part of a monthly series that runs every third Thursday of the month, so if you can't make this one, there's another coming a few weeks later.
The night is put on by the Finding Inspiration Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that uses short narrative films as conversation starters for honest dialogue about mental health, healing, and emotional wellbeing. The screening is just the first half: it's paired with facilitated discussions, Q&A sessions, and mental health resources. The guest speakers are drawn from people with lived experience and mental health professionals, so the conversation comes from both sides of the table.
The foundation curates films around mental health, resilience, identity, grief, burnout, community, and emotional growth. Past episodes have looked at suicidal ideation, addiction and family, single motherhood, and seasonal affective disorder. The series has a home at Urban District Market, a food hall on N Davidson Street with outdoor seating, a small playground, fountains, and a dog park. The closest light rail station is 25th Street.
