A festive concert of holiday carols with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, including a visit from Santa and a family matinee.
The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra brings its Holiday Pops to Knight Theater on Friday, December 18, with two more performances on Saturday, December 19, and Sunday, December 20. It's a full weekend of holiday carols, and since there are three dates to choose from, it's easy to fit in around your own plans.
Christopher James Lees conducts, with soprano Sequina DuBose, the Charlotte Master Chorale, and the full orchestra on stage. The program is built around traditional carols and festive cheer, with familiar favorites like The Twelve Days of Christmas and We Wish You a Merry Christmas filling the hall. There's also a visit from Santa and friends, so it's the kind of show that works just as well for a family outing as it does for a night out with friends.
The concert is part of the Sandra & Leon Levine Pops Series, which pairs popular hits with the full sound of the orchestra and brings in iconic singers from across the decades. This particular program leans into the holiday side of things, keeping the carols front and center.

Logistically, you've got options. The Friday and Saturday evening shows run from 7:30 to 9:30 PM, and the Sunday matinee is from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Doors open two hours before each performance, so you've got plenty of time to get settled before the music starts. If you're bringing kids, there's also a one-hour family matinee on Saturday morning as part of the orchestra's Family Series. Tickets start at $37.02, and the venue is Knight Theater at 430 S. Tryon Street.
