Free screening of the animated film Book of Life, presented by Cine Casual in partnership with ImaginOn, with Spanish audio and English subtitles.
ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center is hosting a free screening of The Book of Life on Saturday, October 17, as part of the city's Día de Muertos celebrations. The afternoon is put on by Cine Casual in partnership with ImaginOn, and it's built as a community event rather than just a movie showing: a fair opens at 1 PM, and the film follows at 2 PM.
The Book of Life is a vibrant animated adventure that celebrates love, family, courage, and Mexican traditions, and the screening is presented as a way to mark Día de Muertos. It runs 95 minutes, and the audio is in Spanish with English subtitles. It's rated PG, and the organizers suggest it's suitable for ages 7 and up, so it works as a family outing if you've got kids in the mix.

Because the fair starts an hour before the movie, you can arrive early and hang out before the film kicks off. If you're coming with a group, that's a good window to get settled. The whole thing runs from 1 PM to 4 PM at ImaginOn, 300 E 7th St in Uptown Charlotte, and admission is free.
