A fully immersive murder-mystery dinner show where guests solve a crime while enjoying a themed meal, based on the classic Clue board game.
Clue: Murder on the Menu opens at Blume Studios on Friday, October 9, and runs through December 6. It's a dining mystery experience based on the Hasbro board game, so if you've ever spent a rainy afternoon arguing over who killed whom in the library with the candlestick, this is that brought to life. The first week, October 9 through 15, consists of preview performances.
It's not a show you just watch from a seat. You're sitting right beside the suspects—Peacock, White, Scarlett, Green, Plum, and Mustard—and you're encouraged to interact with them as the mystery unfolds. The evening starts with a cocktail reception, and then you move into a chef-curated three-course meal. The food is by Chef Craig Barbour of Roots Catering, and the whole thing is hosted by Boden 'Boddy' Black. One of the more interesting parts is that each performance pairs a new combination of murderer, weapon, and room, so the solution changes from night to night.
Right Angle Entertainment produced the show, with writer and director Kevin Hammonds at the helm. They're the same team behind Clue: A Walking Mystery and The Magicians Table, so they've spent some time working with interactive storytelling. It plays at Blume Studios in Charlotte's Iron District, a Blumenthal Arts venue on the site of the former Charlotte Pipe and Foundry, which was home to craftsmen for more than a century.
