Community tree planting and care day in the Charlotte East neighbourhood.
TreesCharlotte is hosting the Charlotte East Language TreeDay in the Charlotte East neighborhood on Saturday, November 14, from 9 AM to 12 PM. It's a community tree planting and care day, so the morning is spent getting new trees in the ground and looking after the ones already there.
If you've never been to one of these, the format is pretty straightforward. The planting part is the main event: digging holes, setting the root balls, and packing the soil. The care side of things usually means things like mulching, watering, or pruningβthe kind of maintenance that keeps a young tree from struggling through its first few years. It's the sort of work that's easier with a few extra sets of hands, and it's done right there in the neighborhood rather than at some distant park.
TreesCharlotte is the group behind it, and they're the ones coordinating the whole thing. They're a local organization focused on the city's tree canopy, and this is one of the ways they get people involved in the actual work of planting and maintaining trees across Charlotte. The event is open to anyone who wants to spend a Saturday morning outdoors working on the neighborhood.
