Smooth jazz pianist Brian Simpson performs live at the Middle C Jazz venue in Charlotte, with craft cocktails and small plates served before the music.
Brian Simpson plays Middle C Jazz in Charlotte on Sunday, October 11, at 6 PM. He's a smooth jazz pianist and composer who's spent decades playing with some of the biggest names in the business, and this is a seated room, so you'll have a chair for the whole set.
Simpson's career reads like a who's who of jazz and R&B. He graduated from Northern Illinois University and moved to Los Angeles, where he started playing with Gerald Albright and Norman Brown before touring the world with Janet Jackson. In 1990, a call from George Duke led to ten years of touring and production work with the late jazz legend, a run that put him in the studio and on stage with James Ingram, Anita Baker, Dave Koz, and Wayman Tisdale. He's also a recording artist with Shanachie Entertainment and has served as music director for many jazz events.
His most recent album, Midnight Groove, came out in March 2025, making it his twelfth. If you're coming for the new material, that's the one to have on your radar. The show is at Middle C Jazz, where they serve craft cocktails and small plates before the music starts. If you can't make it in person, there's a livestream available for Middle C On Demand subscribers.
