A community dance class for all experience levels exploring the dynamic jazz funk dance style, blending traditional jazz foundations with hip-hop.
BOOMKACK is back at The Mint Museum Uptown on Tuesday, November 24, for another community dance class. This month's focus is jazz funk, a high-energy style that blends traditional jazz foundations with hip-hop. The class runs from 7 PM to 8 PM, and it's open to anyone age 12 and up, regardless of experience level.
If you've never been, here's how it works: the hour is split into two halves. The first is all warm-up and across-the-floor exercises to get you moving and comfortable. The second half is dedicated to choreography and performance, where you'll put those movements into a routine. The whole thing is led by experienced instructors in a supportive, non-competitive environment, so it's as much about showing up and moving as it is about getting the steps exactly right.
That's the broader context of BOOMKACK, too. It's an inclusive dance program built around self-expression, health, wellness, and community, and each session explores a different style. This month's jazz funk leans into musicality, confidence, and rhythm, so you'll spend the hour working on how you move to the beat. Since it's open to all experience levels, you don't need a dance background to join inβjust a willingness to get on the floor.
