Blackhawk Hardware's Pet Halloween Costume Contest

Blackhawk Hardware is hosting its first pet Halloween costume contest on Saturday, October 31, at 2 PM. It's a simple enough setup: you bring your costumed pet, enter them into the contest, and they're in the running for prizes. If you've got a dog or a cat that's always been too cute in a little outfit to keep inside, this is the day to actually let them show it off.

There's a bit more to this than just a costume contest, though. The whole thing is being held in loving memory of Nemo the Beagle, a beloved Blackhawk Hardware customer. If you've spent any time around the shop, you know the kind of regular Nemo was—the kind of dog who probably spent as much time hanging around the store as he did at home. This is the store's way of keeping his memory around, and it gives the whole afternoon a reason beyond just the costumes.

It's a local, neighborhood kind of event, so it's easy to drop in with your pet and hang out for a while. If you're not entering, you can still stop by and watch the costumes roll through. It's a good way to spend a Halloween afternoon in Charlotte, especially if you're looking for something to do with your pet before the evening festivities kick in.

Everything happens at Blackhawk Hardware, 4225 Park Road, Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday, October 31, starting at 2 PM. It's free to attend.
