A Motown Christmas brings the magic and music of Motown with The Motortown All-Stars, featuring Miracles, Contours and other Motown legends.
A Motown Christmas comes to the Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts on Friday, November 27, at 7:30 PM. It's a Motown review staged by The Motortown All-Stars, a lineup of vocalists and musicians drawn from the ranks of Motown legends like the Miracles and the Contours. Each singer has performed with Motown stars on stages around the world, and together they work through the label's biggest hits from the era.
The setlist pulls from the Temptations, Four Tops, Jackson Five, Stevie Wonder and the Supremes, with songs like 'My Girl', 'Ain't Too Proud to Beg', 'Ooh Baby, Baby' and 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered' played with the harmonies, flashy outfits and choreography the era is known for. A live band from Detroit, including live brass, adds to the sound, and the show mixes in holiday classics like 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' and 'Silent Night' performed in the Motown style. It's a family-oriented show touring nationally, and this is its only Charlotte appearance this holiday season.
