Petty Thieves Brewing Co is a small brewery and taproom in Charlotte's North End, at 413 Dalton Ave, Suite B, Charlotte, NC 28206. It's inside The Shop, a renovated industrial building near Camp North End, and it can also be reached from 1108 N. Graham St. The brewery runs a seven-barrel system and pours small-batch beers made on site, including crisp lagers, sessionable pilsners, bold stouts, experimental sours, and hoppy IPAs. If beer isn't your thing, there's also cider, seltzer, wine, kombucha, and CBD seltzers. Ryan Walsh manages the brewery. He previously worked at Gonzo's BiggDogg Brewing Co. in Michigan and Edge City Brewery in Charlotte. The beer list is written on a big board over the bar, but not everything on it is on tap. One reviewer noted that some beers are poured from a can.

The space itself is the first thing most people mention. There's an open-air patio with views of the Charlotte skyline, a pub-style interior, and a hidden room that mixes elements of a library, a speakeasy, a church, a cigar lounge, and a dive bar. The design was done with the local firm Cluck Design Collaborative and includes a southern take on an outdoor beer garden, a gothic bar, and reclaimed wood accents. The brewery has a 4.8 out of 5 rating from 365 reviews. Guests often praise the atmosphere, the rotating beer selection, the friendly staff, and the hidden room. One description in the reviews compares the look to a library crossed with a hunting lodge. The taproom won Charlotte's Best Taproom award in 2024. In March 2026, Brian Kletch took over as owner alongside Ted Rosenau, with the stated goal of keeping the feel that won that award while focusing on community and charity.
The taproom doesn't have a kitchen, so food comes from rotating food trucks. The schedule is posted weekly on Instagram, so it's worth checking before you go.
