Toby Lee

Toby Lee plays The Gate on Saturday 29 May 2027, as part of his UK tour. He's an English blues guitarist from Oxfordshire, and the Cardiff date is presented by Kilimanjaro Live at The Gate, an arts venue in a restored Victorian church on Keppoch Street in Roath. The bill is Toby Lee plus guests.

His background reads like a list of the names that shaped British blues. He traces his lineage to John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Slash, and he's spent a good deal of his career sharing stages with them. By the age of ten, a video tribute he made to B.B. King went viral and earned him an invitation to play at B.B. King's Blues Club on Beale Street in Memphis. Since then, he's toured with Buddy Guy, Billy Gibbons, Peter Frampton, Slash and Joe Bonamassa.

Jools Holland called him 'out of this world', invited him to play on his annual Hootenanny on BBC Two, and later fronted a Glastonbury performance. In 2025 alone he played 150 shows, 66 as Holland's special guest and the rest with his own trio. The Cardiff date is part of his UK tour, and the bill lists him alongside guests.

Doors are at 19:00, and tickets are £26.43, which includes the booking fee. The venue is The Gate Arts and Community Centre, Keppoch Street, Roath, Cardiff CF24 3JW.
